CUPERTINO, Calif. — Apple introduced HomeView on Tuesday, a 7-inch smart display priced at $299 that recognizes up to six household members by face and adapts its content accordingly, with preorders open and availability beginning Nov. 13.
The device comes in a tabletop model with a domed speaker base and stainless-steel tilt hinge, and a wall-mounted version. Both cost $299 in the United States. Tabletop colors are silver, starlight, rose pink and space gray; the wall version is offered in silver and space gray. Wall mounting requires a separate Schneider Home mount starting at $59.95.
“Apple HomeView is designed to be shared by everyone in the home yet feel completely personal to each user,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing. “It recognizes your face to shift from a household screen to your own experience, fills the room with incredible sound, keeps you connected to the people who matter most with FaceTime, and makes it easy to control your smart home. And it’s powered by Apple Intelligence with Siri AI at its core, drawing on personal context from your iPhone to help you find what you need and get more done, all while keeping everyone’s information private and secure.”
HomeView uses a square 7-inch Liquid Retina display with True Tone and automatic brightness from 0.3 to 500 nits. It is powered by the A18 chip. The tabletop model includes multiple speakers for spatial audio; the wall version uses drivers tuned for on-wall placement. It supports FaceTime with Center Stage, Messages, Intercom, music playback, calendar and reminders, and control of HomeKit and Matter devices by touch or voice.
A Home Camera view can display up to nine video feeds at once. With a supported iCloud+ subscription, it can provide encrypted recognition of people, pets, packages and vehicles from compatible cameras. The interface simplifies information when viewed from a distance and adds detail as a user approaches. Siri AI is included, offering broader conversational ability and music discovery even without a paired iPhone, though personalized context requires a nearby, recently unlocked compatible device.
Preorders began Tuesday in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and India. Singapore preorders start Thursday. The product is not available in the European Union because Siri AI is not yet offered there. Apple also announced related home products, including a new HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K, at the same event.
HomeView marks Apple’s first dedicated smart display, following the HomePod speaker introduced in 2018. No independent reviews were available at announcement.
