We have predicted the technologies that will revolutionize our world in the coming years. Now it is time for us to see how impactful the said technologies will be. In other words, this article will answer whether or not the newer technologies add value to our life. Recently, many market research companies such as Gartner and IHS Markit are working on finding this out. The last thing we would want is for the A.I to turn against us. – something that Stephen Hawkings predicted. But, for now, let us focus on more optimistic events. Towards the end of this article, you will find how technology will change the world. Stick till the end to find how Tony Stark was right about the technology!

1. Internet of Things will create a $19 Trillion value

The Internet of Things is the hottest technology trend as of now. But, it is only expected to grow further in the next 5 years. Recently, leading telecommunications providers, Cisco valued the Internet of Things at $19 trillion. Furthermore, by 2025, there will be as many as 80 billion connected devices. Each of these devices will have dozens of sensors. Hence, this boost will be detrimental in data collection and storage. In fact, it will also open opportunities for new industries such as Big data, Predictive analysis, and market research. The data revolution is inevitable, and this trillion-sensor economy will push it even further – beyond our imaginations!

2. Instant data acquisition

The drastic upsurge of connected devices would create an abundance of data. This data can be anything from temperature to the number of times you blink. Since all of these data are being collected and stored, by 2025, we will have a massive data bank. As a result of which, we will be able to access desired data instantly. In fact, this trend has already started. For instance, companies have begun sharing their data. You can access it now, through either Kaggle or Google. To sum up, you already have enough open-access fat on the internet. Imagine how much data you could access in 2025 after the Internet of Things quickly takes off.

3. Eight billion connected humans

It is not just the devices that would be connected. But, humankind, too will be connected. We call this concept the “hyper-connect humans”. Essentially, this would require global connectivity. But, that doesn’t mean that this utopian concept would remain under the shadows. By 2025, companies like Facebook, SpaceX, Google, Virgin, and Qualcomm would be successful in their own attempts in global connectivity. As a result of this, we will see 8 billion of us connected. This would also increase our global economy by tens of trillions of dollars. To clarify, this connectivity is unlike what we had 20 years back – 10 Kbps speed. We will have our internet at blazing speeds( at least 1 Mbps).

4. A thousand dollar “human brain”

An artificial brain is deemed not fit to compete against our brains. The reason for this is the capability of our brain to do calculations at a processing speed of 10,000 trillion cycles per second. In addition to that, artificial intelligence lacks the emotional quotient that we have. However, both of these are temporary. Due to the advancements in the realm of artificial intelligence, we can soon witness a computer that can do calculations at higher speeds. That is, faster than ours. Which will make this computer equivalent to our human brain. If it all goes well, you will be able to buy one for $1000 in 2025.

5. Technology will help in treating cancer like just another chronic health condition

Healthcare is only expected to mature further with the implementation of prudent technology. We will witness a major change in the treatment procedures. By 2025, we can expect all the procedures to be propelled by technology, in one way or another. For example, Cancer would be treated as if it is just another chronic health condition. The mortality rate due to cancer will drop. Chemotherapy will be replaced by gene editing and immunotherapy. Since we are already seeing developments in either of the said fields, we can expect this revolution to start before 2025.

6. Negative emission technologies will reverse climate change

If you feel like humankind has wreaked havoc on nature, then it is about time you know the efforts made by a portion of conscious humans to reverse the wrongdoings. Recently, a study revealed that negative emission technologies can effectively reverse climate change. By 2025, CO2 removal technology will limit global warming by 1.5 °C. While we will have a lesser carbon footprint by then, this CO2 removal technology will help to reduce historic carbon dioxide emissions. In other words, we will become more conscious of the repercussions of global warming. Something that should have been known to all by now.

7. The rapid development of digital twins

Over the next 5 years, our reliance on fossil fuels will decrease with the decrease in costs involved in extracting power from renewable sources. This trend will be followed by the rapid development of digital twins, which will aid in supporting the systems-level energy transformation. Furthermore, this transformation will be supported by scientific machine learning combined with physics-based models. Along with that, big data will help in creating leaner designs for cost-effective energy systems.

8. Acceptance of PET – Privacy-enhancing technologies

Data privacy will be taken seriously in the future. In fact, it will be considered as pervasive and will always be prioritized for any task, be it personal or organizational. As of now, we don’t give much attention to privacy in both regulatory and consumer standpoints. However, five years from now, they will reach commodity status. Privacy-enhancing technologies will become mainstream. As a matter of fact, they will become the very foundational element for an enterprise. According to cybersecurity experts, there will be a dedicated cross-functional team appointed to work on PETs. In other words, hackers will have a tough time breaching systems in 2025!

9. Optimization of manufacturing line using intelligent algorithms

Although Computer-Aided Facility Planning and Manufacturing have revolutionized the manufacturing sector, we are far from reaching an optimal system. In this sense, the plants still don’t have 100% efficiency. However, five years from now, intelligent algorithms will be used for optimizing the manufacturing lines. As a result of which, machines will be utilized, and won’t be left idle without work. Such algorithms will also cut waste products by 50%. In other words, production processes will be more efficient.

10. J.A.R.V.I.S

If you think Siri is futuristic, then 2025 has something better in store for you. Tony Stark introduced J.A.R.V.I.S to us. While it looks more fictional, computer scientists may have found the knack to develop one in the future. In fact, companies like IBM, DeepMind, and Vicarious are building intelligent systems that are far more advanced than Siri. To clarify, J.A.R.V.I.S is the acronym for Just A Rather Very Intelligent System. By 2025, we will give access to all of our personal messages, emails, and even biometric data to such intelligent systems. – something that is considered to be “dangerous” right now. However, this might seem counterintuitive to PET technologies. But, that’s how A.I will unfold in 2025!
