Diablo Immortal’ sales exceeded $3 million in 2 weeks

June 20, 2022 By AdvanceTec Writer

It is estimated that Blizzard’s new game ‘Diablo Immortal’ posted $3 million in sales within two weeks of its release. This is a remarkable achievement following the transition to partial payment. However, as the complaints and noises are not so great, it is expected that the key will be whether the company can continue its performance.

According to the game industry on the 20th, foreign media reported that, citing figures from app analysis site appmagic, Diablo Immortal generated at least 24 million dollars in sales through partial payment in the two weeks after its release.

AppMagic analyzed that Diablo Immortal’s sales share was the largest in the United States with 43%, and Korea ranked second with 23%. The 3rd and 4th places were followed by Japan and Germany, which accounted for 8% and 6%, respectively. In terms of download ranking, the US (26%), Korea (11%), Brazil (8%), Japan (8%), Germany (7%), and others (40%) were counted in order.

In the US market, where the role-playing game (RPG) genre was relatively unfavorable, it is generating the largest downloads and sales. According to the Mobile Index, Diablo Immortal is ranked 6th in Google Play sales in Korea and 7th in Google Play in the United States.

However, voices of dissatisfaction with Diablo Immortal are increasing, so it remains to be seen whether this popularity will continue. The game has declared that it will not sell weapons and armor as random items, but is being criticized for inducing excessive charging in order to acquire ‘legendary jewels’, a key element necessary for character development.

In order to obtain Legendary Gems, you have to play the in-game dungeon ‘Rift’, and at this time, it is a general evaluation from the game community that it is encouraging the purchase of ‘Legendary Crest’ that allows you to obtain 100% of Legendary Gems. In addition, you can equip up to 6 pieces of Legendary Jewels, and there are grades of up to 5 stars, so you have to play it repeatedly until you find the Legendary Jewel you want. It is a structure that inevitably costs a lot of money to secure the highest grade.

Due to this charging method of Diablo Immortal, concerns are pouring over ‘Diablo 4’, which is scheduled to be released in 2023. There is a forecast that Blizzard, which generated high sales through Diablo Immortal, will not release similar products in Diablo 4.

As the controversy spread, Blizzard’s Diablo Franchise General Manager Rod Ferguson tweeted on the 13th that “Diablo 4 is a full-price game made for PC and console users.” This means that it will be presented in the form of cosmetic items or expansion packs such as Diablo 2 and Diablo 3.

Meanwhile, Diablo Immortal is the latest installment in the Diablo franchise and the first massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) based on the Diablo IP. You can enjoy various adventures in the sanctuary. You can either challenge an 8-player raid battle or fight a fierce 1:30 battle in ‘The Ring of Struggle’ to earn the title of Immortal and rise to the top.
