We have grown out of those times when we would deliberately try to get bitten by a spider in the hopes of becoming a spiderman. Needless to say, we have become more aware of science and technology. Hence making it difficult to digest something that is remotely radical. Frankly speaking, we have heard enough of superheroes developing magical superpowers after a failed scientific experiment. In fact, it is about time we focus on those superheroes who harness technology to save the world. That being said, here are the 10 technologically savvy superheroes.
1. Black Panther
Black Panther is not immortal. As a matter of fact, he doesn’t even know how to fly. Despite having no inherent superpowers, the Black Panther embraces technology to keep the people of Wakanda safe. If you’ve seen the 2018 movie, you would have seen how technologically advanced the nation of Wakanda is! This is due to that fact that the nation houses Marvel Universe’s most expensive and powerful material, Vibranium. If you know the insides of the Marvel Universe, you’ll recognise Vibranium as an essential compound in Captain America’s shield. Hence, it is safe to assume that Black Panther is one of the best tech-savvy superheroes.
2. Forge
Forge is a mutant capable of creating technologies that best fit a problem. In the sense, he can forge all the materials and technologies that you can envision! In addition to that, he can visually perceive the mechanical energy as it works and could recognize the potential use of any technology. His unsurpassed brilliance in technology allows him to assemble, disassemble, or create countermeasures to anything on the planet.
3. Green Arrow
Also known as Oliver Queen, Green Arrow is one of the wealthiest superheroes in this list. But, he doesn’t venture out in spending his money on royalties. Using this wealth, Oliver Queen built a secret base of operations. Furthermore, he uses a part of his wealth to enhance his proficiency in archery. For you to get a gist as to how technologically equipped he is, just take a look at his suit! With a green mask to conceal his identity, his suit is built on kevlar. To clarify, his suit changes periodically and it only gets better on each adaptation.
4. Hank Pym
Dr Henry “Hank” Pym is a scientist who is better known for his “Ant-Man” alter ego. He uses a specially made “Pym Particles” to shrink his size down to an ant. In addition to that, this “Pym particles” also helps him in growing as big as a building. Furthermore, his Ant-man suit allows him to communicate with ants. Although it might sound silly to you, imagine what will happen if he assembles a large colony of ants! If you don’t know, ants have the capacity to carry things that are multiple times its own weight. This unique ability of his suit and “Pym particles” puts him on this list.
5. Iron Man
How can we forget Tony Stark while talking about technology? Tony Stark, better known as Iron Man, has a unique arc reactor on his suit which produces clean energy. As a matter of fact, Stark uses this reactor to recharge his suit. Essentially, it is a fusion reactor having nuclear properties. Even the scientists are blown away by the uses of this reactor. Recently, they studied its prowess and came up with quantifiable results. You can read more about it here.
6. Blue Beetle
Ted Kord is like a normal human being, just like us. Despite that, he is undoubtedly one of the smartest DC superheroes. While he lacks superhero genes, he makes use of technology to devise the “BB Gun”. Using this gun, he can blow things up and save the world. Or should I say, “worlds”? Kord can accurately translate alien language, making his service available to extraterrestrial beings, when needed. But that’s not all, he even has a mask that can’t be forcibly taken out. How is that for stealth?
7. Cyborg
Cyborg found his way from Teen titans to Justice League through effective utilisation of technology. If his name alone isn’t enough to associate him with technology, then Cyborg is a half-man and half machine. Thereby making him capable of working as efficient as a machine. However, his backstory is tragic. After losing his wife, Silas Stone fitted an experimental prototype on his son, Victor. Eventually, after regaining consciousness, Victor Stone realised he was different and a step above an average teenager. It was Victor Stone who would go on to become the Cyborg of the DC universe!
8. Steel
Superman’s unfortunate demise left a huge void on the DC Universe. Metropolis was in grave danger without Superman. Hence, to keep the Metropolis safe and to fill in this giant void, Dr John Henry Irons stepped up to continue Superman’s legacy. As a weapons expert, Irons constructed a cutting-edge suit with a big “S” written on it, reminiscent of Superman. With his suit and gadgetry, Irons would keep the Metropolis safe! He became the “Man of Steel”. Eventually, Superman would shorten the name to “Steel”.
9. Booster Gold
Booster Gold is my pick for the smartest superhero. He is a person from the future who effectively harnessed the power of the time machine to steal the technology of deceased heroes. To clarify, unlike Green Arrow, he is not a wealthy person. But he used to work on the Metropolis Space Museum, wherein he gathered this idea of becoming a superhero. He essentially stole Rip Hunter’s Time Sphere, a Legion Flight Ring, Brainiac 5’s Force Field Belt, and a Power Suit. Above all, since he is from the future, he has all the information needed to thwart crime. So his intent to steal technologies didn’t cause harm to humanity, but to only save them. Hence, making him a superhero rather than a supervillain
10. Batman
You should’ve seen this coming! Batman needs no introduction. Perhaps the best superhero who makes use of technology, he has a plethora of gadgets to save the world. Batmobile, utility belt, Bat planes, the list would go on. In fact, it is safe to assume that it was Batman who brought the concept of technologically advanced superheroes. As a matter of fact, he even tries to put his technology out to the public. For every technology that he has access to, a dedicated group called “Batfamily” can also harness it. To sum up, technology-wise, Batman does beat Superman!
