I came across a smartphone when the iPhone first came out in Korea, and it seems that I have been using the iPhone ever since. In the meantime, I used the iPhone as the main product, while Samsung received the Galaxy S and the first series of notes and used it together, and LG Electronics also received a smartphone and used various products. So, after using iPhone and Android, I left the iPhone completely in the middle, and now I have settled on the Samsung Galaxy series.
Let’s take a quick look at the reasons why they left the iPhone and are still not thinking of moving on to it. In fact, since I am using a MacBook Pro and iPad, it is true that it is more convenient to use an iPhone. However, the strengths of Galaxy have not yet been resolved in the iPhone, so they are not passed on.
1. Samsung Pay
Everyone will agree with this part. Now that Samsung Pay has become a part of my life, I haven’t carried a wallet for a while and I’m living in a cashless era. From public transportation cards to credit cards, Samsung Pay is also used for money transfers and withdrawals from banks. There are several banks that support Samsung Pay withdrawal service from bank ATM machines, which is useful. Samsung needs to work harder to support all Samsung Pay withdrawals from domestic bank ATMs.
In this way, Korea has become an optimized country for using Samsung Pay, so life without Samsung Pay is unimaginable. However, it was a pity that Samsung Pay was for domestic use, but now it is possible to use it abroad as a domestic terminal. There is still a limitation that only Samsung Card and Woori Card can be used, but this change alone is nice. I haven’t experienced this part yet because I haven’t been abroad because of the corona virus since the overseas service started, but I would like to experience Samsung Pay myself when I go abroad.
As the possibility of realizing Apple Pay in Korea is getting farther away, it seems difficult to get out of the Galaxy ecosystem because of Samsung Pay.
2. Customization
The good thing about the iPhone is that it is easy to use and not complicated, but for me, this is rather a disadvantage. After buying for the first time and touching it for a few dozen minutes, would you say that you are bored because you don’t have to touch it anymore? For that reason, I tend to recommend the iPhone to those who are not familiar with mechanical devices or smartphones. However, Galaxy has many features that can be optimized for personal usability through customization. Samsung’s own ‘Good Lock App’ is an app that allows individuals to optimize various functions. If you fall into this function, you cannot leave the Galaxy.
I operate most functions with one hand, not because my hand is large, but because I use various apps in Good Luck. In addition to the functional part, it is really good that you can set various parts such as the lock screen and home screen to suit your personal taste. The iPhone is not fun to decorate because it has to be used while changing the wallpaper in the state it was made in the first place, but compared to that, it is a pretty good part. However, for those who find it difficult to use a smartphone, it can be said that it is just an overkill. However, if used properly, you can create a galaxy full of your own colors. Samsung’s only way to beat the iPhone is to build and improve its own novel and novel apps like Good Luck, locking in consumers.
3. Secure Folder
The secure folder is also one of the charms of the Galaxy. You can create another powerful safe in your smartphone and store important apps, information and files in it. I put important apps and files in the secure folder and use it, and this part is quite good in terms of security. Even if you lose your smartphone and even find out the password in the worst case, the contents in the secure folder can be locked with another password and fingerprint, so there is a part where you feel relieved.
In the case of Galaxy, you can rest assured that it is protected from KNOX. I also saw the news that it was confirmed that the domestic investigation agency could not unlock the Galaxy smartphone due to the information protection technology ‘Samsung Knox Bolt’ introduced by Samsung Electronics from the Galaxy S21. To introduce Knox Vault, which was introduced in the news for a moment, sensitive information such as pattern, PIN, password, and biometric information, which is a means of unlocking, is safely processed by physically defending against external attacks through the ‘Knox Vault Processor’. . Then, the information is transmitted and stored to ‘Samsung Vault Storage’, a separate storage device, ‘Secure Memory’, through the Samsung Knox Vault protocol, and the memory chip prevents unauthorized access, malicious applications (apps), hacking attacks, etc. It is said that access at the software level is also blocked. Samsung Electronics explained, “If you try to release it by forcibly attacking it from the outside, such as voltage/glitch attacks, temperature changes, or lasers, a warning is immediately sent to Samsung Knox Bolt and access is blocked.”
Previously, I had doubts about Samsung security, but it seems that this kind of technology is now more reliable. And there is another safe called a secure folder in it, which provides strong security once again, so I would like to recommend it to those who trade important files, stocks, finance, or cryptocurrencies. I think it will be difficult to move it if the iPhone doesn’t have a strong secret safe such as a secure folder. If you haven’t used the secure folder function yet, please try it.
4. Bixby Routine, Samsung Pass
In addition to this, there is also a Bixby routine. It is a fun function that makes my favorite functions with one button and works with one click. Should I call it a macro? I made several Bixby routines, installed them on the home screen, and used them properly.
I also enjoy using the Samsung Pass, and as I said before, I have faith in Samsung’s Nox security, so I keep important notes and passwords in the Samsung Pass and use it. Also, these days, some cars from Hyundai and Kia even support smart keys using Samsung Pass, which makes it more convenient. It is convenient to use with one fingerprint using Samsung Pass even when receiving authentication. Above, I briefly looked at 4 reasons why I can’t switch from Galaxy to iPhone. There are probably more, but the most important part seems to be up to number 3. Number 4 is not that important. However, up to number 3 is really important, so if these three functions are implemented in iPhone, there is no reason to stay in the Galaxy. This is because the iPhone has an overwhelming advantage in terms of constant OS updates, software stability, and hardware specifications such as AP. The downside of Galaxy is that, although OS updates have increased compared to before, it is only supported for 4 years, and there are still concerns in terms of software because Google OS is being used. Not to mention the hardware. It’s a pity that if you really went all-in to the OS and built your own system while making Galaxy, you wouldn’t have the same difficulties as now. In the future, in order to compete on an equal footing with the iPhone, we will have to create more and more unique features that can only be found in the Galaxy that the iPhone does not have. And since the hardware competition has become difficult, it seems that we should focus on improving the stability of the software.
